DOCUMENTING CANADA’S UNKNOWN GREAT WAR FALLEN
“Forgotten Fallen: the Untold Story of Canada’s 19,000 Great War Fallen with no Known Graves” is Valour Canada’s award winning documentary commemorating the First World War.
The story focuses on four individuals, each from a different segment of the Canadian population, who made the ultimate sacrifice, and whose bodies were never found:
* Thomas Riley
– a Lewis gunner from Calgary, AB, lost during the Passchendaele assault,
* Talbot Papineau
– a Major from Montreal, QC, also lost during Passchendaele,
* Margaret Marjory Fraser
– a nursing sister Matron from New Glasgow, NS, lost at sea when the hospital ship Llandovery Castle was sunk by a U-Boat, and
* John Shiwak
– a sniper from the Inuit community of Rigolet, LB, lost during the Royal Newfoundland Regiment’s advance at Cambrai.
