Annual Gala Event Support

The General Sir Arthur Currie (GSAC) Award Dinner is our annual gala and major fundraiser, typically held in April or May. We rely on event-support volunteers to assist with guest registration, provide directions, and help manage the silent auction throughout the evening. We are looking for volunteers who are organized, friendly, and comfortable engaging with guests in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team are also valuable traits.

Artifact-Handling Tent

“Classroom at the Crosses” is our annual project with Field of Crosses, running from late October to Remembrance Day. Valour Canada will host an artifact-handling tent, where volunteers—retired or current teachers, military veterans, or those with knowledge of Canadian military history—help students explore artifacts, ask questions, and share stories. Shifts are available in the mornings, afternoons, and some evenings. Volunteers should be prepared for cooler weather and some walking between outdoor and tented areas.

AGLC Casino Fundraiser

The AGLC Casino fundraiser is a two-day in-person event held every 18 to 20 months, supporting our mission through volunteer efforts. No experience is needed, and volunteers can sign up for various day or night shift roles. One meal per shift, snacks and refreshment are provided to volunteers.

Volunteer Researcher and Writer (Remote)

Research and writing opportunities are available for our online military history library. Volunteers will help develop lesson plans, activities, and educational resources, as well as research Canadian military history topics and write short articles (250-500 words) for a grade school audience. There are also opportunities to support the Lead Educator with projects and program planning.  If you are interested in this opportunity, check out our articles here https://valourcanada.ca/military-history-library/

Social Media Marketing Volunteer (Remote)

As a social media marketing volunteer, you will help develop a content schedule, create engaging posts using Canva, and contribute to our online presence by sharing impactful stories and updates. Your work will support our mission by reaching a wider audience and increasing engagement across our platforms, including Facebook, X (previously Twitter), Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
