Dieppe Raid (Virtual Tour)
On August 19, 1942, five thousand Canadian soldiers and a thousand British soldiers crossed the English Channel for a surprise attack on the French coast town of Dieppe. It was heavily defended by Hitler’s Atlantic Wall and unfortunately for the attackers, their attack would not be a surprise.
