Flame of Remembrance 2016

Flame of Remembrance 2016

The 2016 Flame of Remembrance ceremony will commemorate the Battle of Courcelette. The ceremony will be held Thursday, November 10, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. on the 54th floor Sky Garden at The BOW which faces The Calgary Tower. The lighting of the flame symbolizes John McRae’s immortal words from In Flanders Fields: “…to you from failing hands we throw the torch; be yours to hold it high,” and reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice made by 116,000 Canadians in the service of Canada.
